TC2 Setup Using AmCap
Setting Up the Tiliter TC2 Camera Using AmCap
AmCap is a lightweight Windows application for viewing and configuring UVC cameras such as the Tiliter TC2.
It’s useful for confirming that the camera is working, adjusting image quality, and storing default settings before using it with the Tiliter Recognition API or JavaPOS driver.
Step 1: Download and Install AmCap
- Download AmCap from the official website: AmCap Download
- Install the software and launch AmCap.exe.
Step 2: Connect and Select the Camera
- Connect the Tiliter TC2 to a USB port. The single connection powers both the camera and its integrated lighting.
In AmCap, open *Devices → (locate the camera).
- The live video feed should appear immediately.
Step 3: Configure Recommended Settings
Open Options → Video Capture Filter...
You’ll see multiple tabs such as Video Proc Amp and Camera Control.
Adjust the following settings for optimal performance and image consistency.
| Setting | Recommended | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Brightness | 8 / 64 | Slightly dark to prevent overexposure |
| Contrast | 32 / 64 | Balanced contrast for produce textures |
| Saturation | 28 / 64 | Natural colour tone |
| Hue | 32 / 64 | Neutral colour shift |
| Gamma | 32 / 64 | Mid-range light balance |
| Sharpness | 32 / 64 | Balanced edge definition |
| White Balance | 4450 K | Disable Auto White Balance first |
| Power Line Frequency | 50 Hz | Use 60Hz where applicable. |
| Setting | Recommended | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Exposure | Off | Uncheck Auto box |
| Exposure (Time) | ≈ 153 / 5000 | Clear, flicker-free image |
| Focus (Absolute) | ≈ 700 / 1023 | Sharp at ~30–40 cm working distance |
| Auto Focus | Off | Ensures consistent focus |
| Zoom | 0 | Default zoom |
| Iris (Absolute)_ → _Light Control | 100 = Lights On, 0 = Lights Off | |
| Backlight Compensation | 0 (Off) | Avoids colour shift |
✅ Click “Apply” after each change. This writes the settings directly to the TC2 device,
so they persist even after unplugging or rebooting.
Step 4: Save Lighting State
- In the Camera Control tab, set Iris (Absolute) to 100 for lights ON (or 0 for OFF).
- Click Apply to save.
- The TC2 remembers this setting after power cycling.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No image | Camera not selected | Go to Devices → Tiliter Camera 2 |
| Flickering or dim light | Incorrect frequency or lighting off | Set Power Line Frequency to 50 Hz and Iris = 100 |
| Settings reset after restart | Settings not saved | Ensure you clicked Apply after changing values |
| Device not recognised | Driver or USB port issue | Reconnect or try another USB port |
Notes
- Lighting control via Iris (Absolute): 0 = off, 100 = full brightness.
- The TC2 stores your settings internally once applied.
- Default parameters are designed for consistent results across recognition tasks.
